Batavia Coast Park Entrance


Situated 430kms North of Perth, it is the key port and administration centre for the Midwest and Coral Coast Region. Geraldton boasts many successful industries and is the gateway for many exports thanks to the city’s port. The central business district is undergoing a major facelift, facing the city to its foreshores. This transformation will soon provide walk trails and landscaped gardens lining the beachfront. Geraldton has the advantage of coastal frontages and rural backgrounds, making it the perfect holiday destination for an all round experience.

The Batavia Coast Caravan Park is located 10kms North of the CBD.



The new WA Museum Geraldton graces the boardwalk at the new Batavia Coast Marina. Its magnificent hall overlooks the marina and offers a range of exhibitions. The Midwest Gallery explores the environmental, social, cultural and economic development of the region. The Shipwreck gallery features a range of artefacts from the great Dutch shipwrecks between 1692 and 1727 and the Temporary Gallery houses travelling and local exhibitions. The Museum shop offers a unique range of souvenirs relevant to the region and many books featuring local history, photographs and natural wonders.

HMAS Sydney Memorial:

This spectacular memorial commemorates the loss of 645 sailors that were aboard the HMAS Sydney when she went down in 1942, after engaging in battle with the Kormoran. Neither ship has ever been found. Standing just a few feet away is a bronze figure, ‘The Waiting Woman’, she represents those awaiting news of there loved one’s. A memorable site to see.

St Francis Xavier Cathedral:

This magnificent cathedral in the heart of Geraldton is Monsignor John Haws' greatest masterpiece. This fine display of Byzantine Architecture took 22 years from start in 1916 to finish in 1938. Monsignor Hawes’ architectural genius can be seen throughout the Geraldton region.


Geraldton’s surrounding areas hosts one of Australia’s most abundant displays of wildflowers. The region becomes a sea of colour between the months of August and October. Enjoy the birdlife and wildflowers on nature walk trails along the Chapman Regional Wildlife Corridor that runs along the Chapman River.


Geraldton’s consistent summer winds have earned the city the title of the country’s windsurfing capital. Conditions are so ideal for windsurfing that hundreds of windsurfers from across the globe descend on Geraldton each year to experience the thrill of racing across the water on a sail or kite board. Conditions are best during the summer months from around November to March when prevailing southerly sea breezes spice up the action.
Geraldton boasts a variety of windsurfing locations, ensuring there’s something for everyone from the total beginner through to windsurfing champions.
